Històries limítrofes (Tales from the Edge) is a collection of six short stories set in different places across the Catalan territory, and at different points in time, spanning from the 18th century to the near future. The stories are arranged in chronological order, and the writing style matches the prose of each period.
The tone of the book aims to combine the beauty of poetic prose with an aura of mystery and unease, as the stories deal with eerie folkloric entities and remote places where reality mixes with superstition to the point that the two become indistinguishable.
The stories included in this work are:
La travessa pirenaica (The Pyrenean Crossing): while crossing the Pyrenees to visit his brother on the other side, a traveler has an ill-fated encounter with a dona d’aigua (water woman—elusive faeries inhabiting Catalan lakes).
Mal refugi (Wrong Shelter): in the damp, deep gorges of the Montseny, a lone walker intends to take shelter inside the hollow trunk of a thousand-year-old tree.
El repic (The Patter): featuring the Dip, a folkloric vampiric dog that stalks the remote villages of southern Catalonia.
La vetlladora (The Watcher): back in the Pyrenees, this story reflects on the consequences of holding death at bay indefinitely. You can read it here.
Vox Speratis: to my knowledge, Catalan folklore lacks the figure of a cursed book. This story fills that gap, while reflecting on how much an artist is willing to sacrifice to reach greatness.
Repoblament (Repopulation): offers a plausible near-future for the southern Catalan town of Ascó (renamed Escó in the story), adjacent to the nuclear power plant of the same name.
LA CONFESSIÓ DE RICHARD SAMUEL JENKINS

La confessió de R. S. Jenkins (The Confession of R. S. Jenkins) is a psychological soft-horror novel that digs deep into the thoughts, anguish, and fears of its introverted protagonist—a man suffering from an undetermined illness with symptoms resembling ADHD and agoraphobia. A recluse in his mansion, he shields himself from the frantic demands of the outside world until a seductive woman knocks on his door. His relationship with her will haunt him even after his flight to the far north.
